Capital Clover - September Edition 2026

East Baton Rouge Parish 4-H. Capital Cover.

01. MORE THAN

4-H is MORE THAN… Joining

Enrollment is just the beginning.

Joining 4-H may start with filling out an enrollment form and paying dues, but being a 4-H’er is about so much more than having your name on a roster.

And here’s something we really want East Baton Rouge families to know:

No 4-H club at your school? No problem!

You do not have to attend a school with a 4-H club to be a 4-H member.

East Baton Rouge youth can participate in 4-H in several ways. You can join a traditional school club, participate in one of our project or community clubs, or enroll as a Member at Large and take part in parish-wide 4-H opportunities.

However you join, you are an EBR 4-H’er—and the opportunities are yours to explore.

Make 4-H Your Own

There is no single way to “do” 4-H.

Maybe you want to learn how to cook, raise an animal, go fishing, explore STEM, take photographs, compete in a contest, attend camp, serve your community, or develop your leadership skills. Maybe you don’t know what interests you yet. That’s okay, too.

You also don’t have to do everything! Some 4-H’ers find one project they love and stick with it. Others try something new every year. The goal isn’t to check every box, it’s to find the experiences that are meaningful to you.

Go Beyond Joining

Once you’re enrolled, challenge yourself to take that next step. Attend an event. Try a project. Join a project club. Enter a contest. Volunteer. Apply for an opportunity. Meet another 4-H’er.

You never know where one “yes” might take you.

Because 4-H is more than joining—it’s finding your place, discovering your interests, and becoming Beyond Ready for whatever comes next.
