National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Literacy Training

Real flood risk and perceived flood risk are not one in the same.

This course offers two separate pathways:

I. Homeowners

  • information on flood risk
  • policy coverage basics
  • documentation tips
  • information on the claims process

II. Housing Professionals, Extension Associates, or anyone interested in more information

  • terminology associated with policies
  • coverage types
  • policy pricing factors and discounts
  • mitigation methods

The aim of this program is to help inform residents about actual flood risk and how that data is collected, how the National Flood Insurance Program works, how to read insurance policy information accurately, and prepare residents for the claims process.

Each session is approximately an hour in length. The sessions are scheduled ahead of time, but if you're interested in hosting a private session on a specific date, please reach out to Pam Lewandowski at [email protected] to discuss scheduling.

Location: This course will typically be scheduled for online instruction on our course list. In-person sessions can be requested if there are over 10 participants interested.

Instructor: Pam Lewandowski; LaHouse Manager of Training

Cost: $15 registration per person
