The LSU AgCenter's Audubon Sugar Institute (ASI) was well represented at the 2026 ASSCT Annual Joint Meeting of the Louisiana and Florida Divisions, held June 17-18, 2026, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
A team consisting of Gillian Eggleston, Alexa Triplett, Camille Smith, Sydney Chenier, and Fikadu Beyene received the Best Paper Presentation Award in the Manufacturing III session for their presentation, "Comparison of Methods to Measure Carry-over (Residual) Amylase in Crystalline Sugars and Refinery Liquors."
In addition to this recognition, ASI researchers presented several technical papers covering sugar processing, crystallization, analytical methods, and factory operations:
- Evaluating Crystal Size Measurement Methods for Sugar Manufacturing Materials
Stephania Imbachi Ordonez, Ricardo Garcia Carcamo, Juan Gabriel Rodriguez Sarasty, and Nicolas J. Gil Zapata
- Not Just Dextran: New Gums, New Challenges in Sugar Processing
Giovanna M. Aita and Young Hwan Moon
- Comparison of Methods to Measure Carry-over (Residual) Amylase in Crystalline Sugars and Refinery Liquors
Alexa Triplett, Sydney Chenier, Camille Smith, and Gillian Eggleston
- How the Premira® Enzyme Performed at Louisiana Factories in 2025
Alexa Triplett, Gillian Eggleston, David Stewart, Belisario Montes, Stephania Imbachi Ordonez, Jose Diaz, and Geraldo Nazaro
- Observations Leading to Improvements in Crystallization at Louisiana Factories in 2025
